Facilities:-English Department Library

A language without speakers literature without books is just like a barren land – a wide spread of wilderness. The main objective of the College since its inception was to nature the habit of reading good literature of the language of their choice. Hence with the help of readers with passion varieties of books of varied interests were collected to our College Library. So much so we in the department also felt the need to store some important books that could facilitate the student for further reference in their chosen topics. With the support of the motivating faculty of the department, College & our ever supportive management we have a very well stacked department library – which supports the needy students who lack financial capacity to buy their even copies of best international publications.

>> Functional English - an add-on Course is being conducted in the department from 2010-11.
>> Remedial classes are conducted for those who are weak in the subject by giving them exercises, revision work and home assignment. Need based counseling is also done at times.

Overview

In our college, the department of Hindi was stared in the year 1979. This subject is offered as one of the languages for I & II B.A, BCom, BSc, and I Year B.B.M, B.C.A Courses. The department of Hindi enjoys an extraordinary credit in the college.

Overview

The department of Kannada enjoys an extraordinary credit in the college. As such number of Alumni is the most number of students who have studied in the college, since 1968-1969. The college has enjoyed the first and second principle-ship of Professor Panchalinge Gowda and Professor Ramakrishna Udupa until 1982, who belonged to the Derpartment of Kannada. They elevated the college to great heights during their tenure as the head of the institution. Old students add glitter to the college. The staff of Kannada Department has contributed to the cultural and literary development of not only the college but also the rural and backward town of Gonikoppal.

Overview

Department of Military Science was established in the year 1974. It was inaugurated by General K.M. Cariappa, former Commander In Chief of Indian Armed Forces and presided over by Prof. Javare Gowda, former Vice Chancellor, Mysore University on 20th September 1974 at the College premises. The number of students in the department was 10. Over the years the department has grown to meet the needs of the students.

Department of History was started at Cauvery College in the year 1968. Prof. P.C. Geetha serves as the Head of the Department after the retirement of Prof. Late A.K. Bose. Smt.P.C. Meenakshi is working as a part-time lecturer in the Department. Present students strength is 260 and the results are good.

Department of Political Science was started in Cauvery College in the year 1969.We have produced number of Political leaders at the Grama Panchayath, Taluk and State levels. Many of our students are serving as teachers, Lawyers and Lecturers. We take students to District Court, Taluk Courts and also to Grama Sabha’s to have a Political knowledge of the Court proceedings and the working of local self-governments.

The department of chemistry was established in the year 1974 with B.Sc (CBZ) and expanded later with the open of B.Sc (PCM combination). The department has had the privilege of obtaining services of high standard from dedicated teachers who have succeeded in contributing to the growth of the department. Hundreds of students have graduated in the last 30 years. Most of our students pass out with Distinction and High First Classes. Some of our students have secured ranks and gold medals at the University level. The department works and plans extension activates along with non government and government organization
