THE INTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE CELL (IQAC)

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) works towards improving the quality of education by identifying areas for improvement, enabling faculty members to look at alternative teaching methodologies, formulating new teaching and evaluating strategies and offering suggestions for relevant self-financing courses. The IQAC coordinates the activities of the various committees in the college and plays a Proactive role in shaping the policies of the college. It is an effective internal monitoring mechanism, which takes into account the needs of the stakeholders in higher education (students, parents, faculty members, funding agencies, potential employees and the society in general).

The Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR)for the year 2009-10 have been submitted to the Director, National Assessment And Accreditation Council, Bangalore by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell(IQAC), Cauvery College, Accredited B++ by NAAC under IQAC coordinator Dr. A S Poovamma. This prestigious institution is affiliated to Mangalore University.

Our college is architecturally designed with a frontal garden and an imposing structure overlooking the main road near the town of Gonikoppal. An affiliated college of the University of Mangalore, Cauvery College has been a beacon of light and a symbol of excellence in higher education. The college offers various courses in Arts, Science, Commerce, Business Management and Computer Application. We have 16 undergraduate departments. Added to this, this year we introduced certificate courses in Light Music, Coffee growing & cultivation, a Beautician course and a Spoken English certificate course: more than 700 students
Today higher education has taken a revolutionary transformation in defining quality at every stage of its operation and our institution is also trying its best to establish and sustain quality in its initiative of imparting knowledge as well as in its overall approach to education in general. Our institution has received a backward area status from UGC with a grant of Rs.3,00,000/- for library books & equipment in 2009. This is to point out that our institution has mainly students from backward classes aspiring higher education to become self-reliant. Our institution undoubtedly lends its hand in realizing their goals and aspirations by providing them with better facilities, good infrastructure and learning resources. Kodagu District is surrounded by hills and rills, green forests and vast fields. Most of the tribes live in this region with coffee and pepper cultivation as its main staple cash crop.
